Update from the Programmer
At first, we wanted to make 360 degree first person panorama as in Myst IV: Revelation. The ambiance of the game is amazing, but we considered the time needed on code development and gave up working on panorama for now.
We developed some demos on Wintermute but not sure yet whether to continue using it or not for the game. Although there are still lots of things to do, early practices showed that we may push the limits of the Wintermute. You will love this game!
The bad and the good
What happened during the 3 months… Let me summarize.
First, the bad…
• A week ago, I had vertigo while walking on the street with my friends. That was the most interesting and bad experience I have ever encountered. I had a really terrible dizziness, temporary hearing loss and a pressure feeling in my brain. I felt like I was gonna faint. This may be a meniere’s disease but the doctor said that I had nothing serious. Now, I am applying some alternative treatments with herbs and stuff.
• The script should be finished by the end of this month but I have completed nearly half of it. So, not to compromise the expectations, the predicted completion deadline of the game postponed to early summer 2011 due to this misfortune and some other issues.
The good…
• I bought Canon EOS 5D Mark II with some accessories and some equipments for the shootings and field recording, so that I can handle more precise audio-visuals in both still and movie, I want them to be top-notch in unison with the story.
• Now, I am working on the game only, no other bits and pieces.
• Instead of 1st person panorama, we may use 3rd person 2.5D. So, you should see the character in the game. At first glance, 2D may seem as something bad, but this will enhance the quality of the stills. So, perceive it as a good thing.
